On November 13, Lauren Rottet was honored at the 6th Annual Boutique Design Awards that took place at the Javits Center in New York. This designation was awarded because of her firm’s dedication to such distinguished design projects as The Surrey Hotel, the Presidential Bungalows at The Beverly Hills Hotel and The James Royal Palm hotel in Miami Beach.“Lauren Rottet leads a firm committed to improving the human experience through the built environment and has put that philosophy to work in such high-profile hospitality design projects as The Surrey Hotel in New York, the new Presidential Bungalows at The Beverly Hills Hotel and The James Royal Palm,” said Matthew Hall, editor of Boutique Design Magazine. “She also recently became the first woman to be named a Fellow of both the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association. Lauren Rottet recently spoke on a panel for NEWH Student Day 2011 with internationally acclaimed restauranter (and Rottet Studio client) Philippe Schmit of Philippe Restaurant & Lounge and Joseph Bendy, General Manager of the historic River Oaks Country Club.NEWH Houston Chapter, The Hospitality Network, presented their first annual Student Day for college and university students in Houston to learn from the best in their field, as well as to broaden their perspectives on optoins after graduation. To date, NEWH has awarded more than $2.26 million in scholarships internationally to young people pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. "Fundamentally, we exist to bring industry professionals together to help raise our replacements - the next generation of design, culinary and hospitality leaders," said Josephine Duncan, president of NEWH Houston.
The Design Council of the Musuem of Fine Arts, Houston toured commercial interiors projects by Gensler and Rottet Studio on Monday, March 7. A group of about 40 design enthusiasts visited the Haynes Boone law firm and the offices of A Global Management Consulting Firm, both designed by Lauren Rottet. The tours ended at Rottet Studio headquarters with a receptions and studio tour.
